About the Winery
40 Knots Winery and Cidery, located in the heart of Comox on Vancouver Island, is one of British Columbia’s most sustainable wineries, producing exceptional wines and ciders that reflect the coastal terroir. Established over a decade ago, 40 Knots has grown from a small vineyard into a thriving estate with a strong focus on regenerative farming, minimal intervention winemaking, and ethical business practices. The winery’s name is inspired by the powerful coastal winds that define the region — a symbol of both nature’s force and the energy behind their handcrafted products.
Today, 40 Knots produces a variety of wine styles, including classic VQA-designated varietals such as Pinot Gris, Gamay, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a traditional method Sparkling Rosé that pays homage to love and inclusion. The cidery side of the operation features award-winning Knotty Ciders made from their own orchard, recently taking home international gold medals and scoring 90+ points. With a commitment to sustainability, diversity, and community, 40 Knots offers not only wines and ciders of exceptional quality but also a warm, authentic experience that connects people to the land and each other.
Open year-round, families and pets welcome.
